Healthy and Tasty Smoothies just for your Toddler Children

Are you wondering how to get your toddler to eat more vegetables?

Usually around the age of two does a child realize they do not like vegetables and a parent starts to struggle to keep their toddler healthy.  Making smoothies at home is a great way to get vegetables in your little ones diet.  The right vegetable mixed with the right fruit can be a very beneficial and tasty snack for your child.  These ingredients have been selected for their super health benefits, flavors that most children like and easy and quick to mix.

Here is a list of 5 tasty and healthy smoothie recipes that are rich in vitamins and minerals, easy to make for moms and healthy for any toddler.

1. Mango Magic

Frozen mango chunks
Banana
Carrots
2% Milk
Apple juice

The mango is a super fruit and offers a tangy sweetness.  The carrots are very mild with a hint of sweetness. The banana and milk can constipate young ones so we counter act that with apple juice and cutting whole milk down to 2% will help and still making sure there's enough fat needed to help toddlers grow.

Frozen Strawberries
All Natural Peanut Butter
2% Milk

This delightful protein treat could be made anytime of the day even used as a late night snack.  The protein from peanut butter is comforting and sits heavy in those tiny bellies.  The best part about this smoothie is that it tastes like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!  Kids love it!

3. The Magical Mandarin

Frozen Mandarin Oranges
Banana
Frozen Squash
2% Milk
Water

Similar to a cream sickle but with a lot more health benefits.  Squash is a sweeter vegetable fooling the kids into eating veggies.  The color blends right in with the mandarin oranges.  Toddlers won't know the difference.

Just a few Health Benefits:

  • Promotes respiratory health
  • Prevents arthritis
  • Helps regulate blood sugar
  • Boosts immune system
  • Reduces breast cancer and liver cancer risks
  • Promotes hair and skin health
  • Lowers bad cholesterol
  • Promotes heart health

4. The Green Machine

Frozen Spinach
Avocado
Honeydew
2% Milk
Pear Juice

This one is a little tougher to fool your child to drinking veggies.  Children learn green are veggies so green is bad.  I recommend putting this one in a colored sippy cup so they can't see that it's green.  Once they try it, the flavor a different but not bad. It took my toddler a couple tries to accept this one but now he loves this one the same as the others.  The avocado gives this smoothie a creamy texture, the spinach is mildly sweet and if you like honeydew, it adds a refreshing flavor.  Honeydew is different so toddlers will need to give it a chance, a chance worth taking for this super healthy smoothie.

Just a Few Health Benefits:

  • Reduces stomach, skin and breast cancer risks
  • Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant
  • Promotes bone and brain health
  • Very nutrient rich
  • Promotes eye health
  • Helps manage weight
  • Lowers cholesterol
  • Regulates blood sugar
  • Prevents dehydration

5. Berry Beet Beautiful

Beets
Frozen Berry Medley ( strawberry, blueberry and raspberry)
Apples
2% Milk
Apple Juice

I was surprised my toddler fell in love with this smoothie! Beets have a very strong flavor so go light with them and you'll be surprised the interestingly good flavor that comes with this one.  This is a great antioxidant mixture to help with sickies and its berrylicious!

Just a Few Health Benefits:

  • Helps prevent macular degeneration
  • Helps prevent cancers like skin, colon and lung
  • Promotes cardiovascular health
  • Helps prevent asthma symptoms
  • Aids in liver function
  • Supports circulatory system
  • Help prevent UTI's
  • Super anti-oxidants

Once you gradually incorporate these health packed smoothies into your toddler's diet, you should see an increase in energy, growth, brain development and a boosted immune system.  It is important to gradually introduce this type of food and to make a different one each day.  For sensitive toddler tummies, space them out every other day and don't make one with bananas right after another one with bananas. Same with the ones with apple juice.  Too many bananas can constipate and too much juice can cause diarrhea.  The trick is to create a balanced diet to keep our toddlers healthy and happy.

Here are a couple products I highly recommend.  These can be coming in the mail while you build up your Frozen fruits and veggies collection from your grocery store.  Fresh organic food is the best but they do go bad fast.  These smoothies only take a tiny bit of each ingredient unless your feeding a daycare of toddlers.  Frozen produce still offers the health benefits and you don't have to add ice to give you that smoothie texture.  (This site contains affiliate links to help get mothers what they need to help their child's diet)

1. The Magic Bullet

This great appliance makes cleanup quick and easy.  You can drink right out of the cup you mixed everything in and it's easy to rinse it out.

2.  Ensure Vanilla Vitamin Mix

I add ensure to every smoothie.  It adds great flavor and many more vitamins and minerals toddlers need.

3. Bottled Water

Reduce chemicals and toxins from tap water by using bottled water.

Feel free to leave a comment about your toddler's fruits and veggies smoothie experience.  Enjoy!
